Combination skin needs careful attention because it has a blend of oily and dry patches.

The centre panel or T-zone, across the forehead and down the nose and chin, tends to be oily, and needs to be treated like oily skin. However, the other areas are prone to dryness and flakiness from lack of moisture, and need to be treated like dry skin.

Skin that has a combination of dry and oily patches requires a dual approach to skincare.
Skin Care

Basic skin care routine for Combination Skin

Follow this balanced skin care regime daily so your skin looks and feels its best.

1. Choose an oil-based eye make-up remover to clear away every trace of eye make-up from this delicate area, which is prone to dryness. Rinse with cool water to remove any excess oil.

2. In the Morning, use a foaming facial wash. This ensures oily areas are clean, and helps to clear pores to prevent blackheads. Massage a little in to damp skin, especially on oily areas.  Leave for a few seconds to dissolve dirt, then rinse with cool water.

3. In the Evening, switch to a cream cleanser, to keep dry areas of your skin clean and soothed.  This will balance excess oiliness or dryness in your complexion.  Massage well into your skin, concentrating on the drier areas, then gently remove with a cotton wool pad, then rinse of any excess with cool water.

4. After cleansing, always use a gentle toner, saturate a cotton wool ball and sweep over entire face, and neck skipping the eye area. You will require two different types of toner.  Choose a stronger astringent for oily areas, and a mild toner or rosewater for the drier ones.

5. Finally, apply a nourishing cream concentrating on the drier areas to add moisture.  Then blot of any excess from the oily areas with a tissue.  This will give your skin the nourishment it needs.

6. Give the moisturiser a few minutes to soak in before applying your make-up.

Bonus Tip: Exfoliating your skin will help your skin care products work properly. As a general rule of thumb, exfoliate your skin up to twice a week, once a week only concentrating on the oily T-zone. Exfoliating every day may make your skin become dry, and patchy.
